I havn't commented on this yet. I have no excuses.
It looks awsome! Unfortunately, I can think of nothing more to say, as everyone has said most of what I was going to say. I love the contrast in clothing choices between these two though in Tenth Charm's artwork and can't wait to see them both in the comic.
I dunno, Ami still seems almost (pardon for the possibly racist slang term coming up) "passing" to me. I'm not meaning it as criticism in the least, btw! I actually really like the unique art style and you may have been going for more realistic all around as her hair is darker too, using the highlight for color trick the way Rei does.
I don't think I've ever heard that term. Anyway, in TenthCharm we're actually out to make the girls look Asian...Haruka and Makoto (if I recall correctly) are the fairest, and could most easily pass for Western. I think it's Makoto's relatively light complexion that's making Ami's look all the darker. As for Ami's dark hair, the girls only have brightly multicolored hair when they power up. We believe it'll be harder for the public to recognize them as Senshi that way. :3
I really love this one. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but from her pose and what we can see of her face, it almost looks as if Ami's been crying...
It suggests a small story behind this pic to me: Either something really bad has happened to Ami or she's received bad news, and her first instinct was to rush into Makoto's arms for comfort and support in her hour of need.
Of course, that may not have been the mood you were trying for, but it's what I took from this piece regardless. And that's why I faved it, in fact; I love WAFFy Ami/Mako stuff, but it's also nice (and sadly somewhat rare) to see them there for each other in the bad times and not just the good.
So cute! But...more than the emotion, I'm just totally in love with Mako's glvoes. I know, I know, so shallow and missing the point, BUT THEY'RE SO AWESOME what a great deisgn! Ditto for her pants--she looks so GOOD purple, why didn't she wear it more in the series?
Just curious, how/why did you decide to give your version of her a punky look?
